Miss Bhan is the senior Ophthalmic Consultant and Medical Director of services at the clinic. Julie Thomson is a permanent Consultant in General Ophthalmology and Oculoplastics in the NHS. She manages all aspects of general ophthalmology including emergency procedures in addition to delivering specialist services in Oculoplastics.
Julie graduated in Medicine from the University of Cambridge in 1995. Prior to this she completed an Honours degree in Anatomy and Cell Biology at the University of Sheffield and worked in the field of Forensic Medicine. Her initial medical career was in the Royal Air Force where she completed two tours of duty as a Medical Officer and trained in ophthalmic surgery in Peterborough, Birmingham and Nottingham. Julie undertook fellowship training in Oculoplastics in Birmingham before retiring from the military as a senior officer after 22 years, thereafter working in the NHS only. Julie also worked as a Clinical Fellow in Medical Retina and Oculoplastics in Worcester Hospitals Trust before appointment to her current substantive Consultant post. Julie has a keen interest in teaching and within her NHS role is Medical Education Lead for medical students, Lead for nurse teaching and Clinical Supervisor for trainee ophthalmologists.
Julie deals with all aspects of general ophthalmology but especially lid and retinal conditions. Oculoplastic procedures offered by Julie at the Lancashire Eye Clinic include brow lifts, blepharoplasty (removal of excess upper lid skin), electrolysis, ectropion (out-turning lid) and entropion (in-turning lid) repair, syringing of the lacrimal ducts, enlargement of the punctum (tear drainage duct), excision and reconstruction of small lid tumours, and numerous minor procedures such as excision of eyelid cysts, chalazia, papillomas and skin tags.
Julie trained under Miss Bhan to the standard of a UK trained glaucoma Consultant with the exclusion of glaucoma surgery. She also offers general procedures such as laser and intravitreal injections and has an interest in innovative approaches to the management of dry eye disease and blepharitis.
Mr Damien Yeo MB, ChB, FRCOphth

Mr Yeo is a Consultant Paediatric and Adult Ophthalmologist. He is a regional and tertiary referral specialist based mainly at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, Liverpool Women’s Hospital, and St Paul’s Eye Unit. He has a specialist interest in paediatric ophthalmology, congenital eye conditions, ophthalmic genetics, ocular motility and strabismus.
He graduated from the University of Manchester in 2008. He completed his ophthalmology training in the Wales deanery. During his registrar years, he was a member of the surgical skills faculty as well as an examiner for the Royal College of Ophthalmologists. He was a committee member of the Ophthalmologists-in-Training Group and was the founder of the Welsh Ophthalmic Trainees Society.
After his residency, Damien completed further fellowships in Great Ormond Street Hospital, Moorfields Eye Hospital, and the Royal London Hospital before taking up his consultant post in Liverpool. His surgical practice includes general ophthalmology and strabismus surgery where his aims are to achieve the patient’s expectations with as few surgeries as possible and with minimal scarring and pain.
Damien has multiple publications in peer reviewed journals and has written a few book chapters. His research interests include topics on visual development, strabismus, and ophthalmic phenotyping. Mr Kirti M Jasani is a Consultant Ophthalmologist specialising in Cataract and Vitreoretinal Surgery based at the world-renowned Manchester Royal Eye Hospital.
Mr Jasani completed his Graduation from the University of Manchester and did Specialty Training in Ophthalmology at the North Western Deanery primarily based at the Manchester Royal Eye Hospital.
He then went on to do a Gene Therapy Research Fellowship with Professor Robert MacLaren at the Nuffield Department of Clinical Neurosciences, University of Oxford working on gene therapy projects both in Oxford Eye Hospital and Moorfields Eye Hospital in London.

Mr Tanawade is an experienced Consultant Ophthalmologist, Cataract and Vitreoretinal Surgeon and Lead Clinician for Vitreoretinal Services at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals since 2015.
He undertakes routine and complex cataract surgery, secondary lens implantation and lens exchange procedures. Over his 24-year career in Ophthalmology, he has gained excellent experience in general Ophthalmology and its sub-specialties, particularly in surgical and medical retina.
He has performed over 7,000 procedures which include both routine and complex cataract surgeries. He has performed over 4,500 cataract and lens-related procedures and also undertaken high-volume cataract surgery. He is an expert in vitreo-retinal microsurgery.

Mr Shadrokh Nabili has undergone comprehensive and accredited training in ophthalmology, encompassing basic, higher specialist, and advanced subspecialty levels. His training took place at prestigious institutions, including Ninewells University Hospital, The Royal Hospitals (Belfast), and Bristol Eye Hospital, since 2000.
In 2008, he achieved fellowships from the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (London) and the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. Following this, in 2009, he completed an Advanced Sub-specialty Fellowship (ASTO) in Cornea and External Eye Diseases (Anterior Segment). This advanced training led to his appointment as a full-time consultant ophthalmic surgeon at University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust, where he established cornea and external eye disease services in South Cumbria and North Lancashire.

Mr Vikesh Patel MBChB FRCOphth FRCSEd

Vikesh Patel is a Consultant Ophthalmologist and Oculoplastic Surgeon at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals in Preston He performs cataract surgery and has a special interest in oculoplastic (eyelid), lacrimal (watery eye) and orbital surgery.
Vikesh graduated from the University of Dundee in 1998 and completed his basic ophthalmic surgical training in Taunton and Nottingham, then went on to higher surgical training in Nottingham and Cardiff. In 2008, he completed a fellowship in oculoplastic surgery at the internationally renowned Queen Victoria Hospital in East Grinstead. He was appointed as a NHS consultant in Lancashire Teaching Hospitals in Preston in 2010.
He offers specialist knowledge and skills in eyelid and lacrimal surgery, including upper eyelid blepharoplasty (droopy eyelids) and lower eyelid blepharoplasty (eyebag removal), innovative techniques in ptosis surgery (droopy eyelids), endonasal DCR (watery eye) surgery, and eyelid reconstruction following tumour removal. He also performs microincisional cataract surgery as well as managing all aspects of general ophthalmology.
Vikesh is committed to teaching and training for both trainees and medical students. He is currently the Royal College of Ophthalmologists tutor, educational supervisor and undergraduate academic advisor. Mr Makso is an ophthalmic surgeon, academic lecturer, examiner and a tutor. He’s a substantive NHS consultant, with a main interest is cornea and refractive surgery. Ahmed has a royal college degree in implantable lenses and laser refractive surgery.
Ahmed got his primary medical degree in 2001 in Alexandria, where he also got his basic Ophthalmology training. This was followed by a fellowship of the Royal College of physicians and surgeons from Glasgow, a fellowship of the Royal College of ophthalmologist in London, and certificate in laser refractive surgery. He was awarded an ICO funded fellowship at the New York Eye and Ear infirmary. He moved to the UK, climbing the ladder and finishing his run through training in Sheffield teaching hospitals, which is one of only 4 hospitals in the country for treating eye tumours. He got a certificate of completion of training (CCT), then started a fellowship in cornea and refractive surgery via a world-renowned fellowship in Queen Victoria hospital. He trained under Miss Bhan to the standard of the UK com trained glaucoma Consultant with the exclusion of glaucoma surgery.
In addition to his clinical practice, Ahmed has an interest in teaching, and holds a Masters in medical education from Manchester University, with a special interest in simulation in surgical training. Ahmed also is a microsurgical skills trainer and an examiner at the Royal College of ophthalmologist in London. He is a PLAB examiner which is the main exam for entry of foreign doctors to the United Kingdom. In addition, he’s a software / website developer and a certified gym trainer. He has multiple publications in ophthalmology and medical education.
